Vidusshi Hingad
As a South Asian woman, Vidusshi Hingad is deeply committed to representing marginalized communities, ardently advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She thrives in environments where fostering community and building a culture of genuine collaboration is paramount. Her academic pursuits are centered around research methods in applied psychology, user-centered design, and decision-making. Vidusshi is also passionate about writing, international relations, and the evolving field of generative AI, integrating these interests into her comprehensive approach to her studies and advocacy.
Laura Furtado Fernandes
Laura (she/her) is a class of 2025 Psychological Science major from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She currently works as a research assistant in both Dr. Shannon Burns's MIC lab and Dr. Masland's PPPR lab. Her current research interests center on the role of affective dysregulation in social cognition as it relates to psychopathology. Some of Laura's favourite courses in the department include Emotion with Lab, Psychological Disorders, the Clinical Psychology Seminar, and the Seminar in Group Dynamics. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in the future.
Outside of psychology, Laura is passionate about the outdoors, sunshine, and travel—key reasons why she chose to study so far from home and in Southern California. She loves exploring new places and cultures and has enjoyed getting to know SoCal! In Rio, she enjoys beach days spent reading or surfing with her mother. She also loves exercise, whether it's practicing kickboxing outdoors in Rio or enjoying a morning swim in Claremont.
As a liaison, Laura enjoys organizing department events and helping students with questions about courses and the major. She's excited to continue serving her peers during her final year as a liaison!
Josephine Yip
Josephine Yip is a junior majoring in Psychological Science and Linguistics from Hong Kong. Her interest in different aspects of psychology has led her to work as a research assistant at labs across Hong Kong, the Boston area, and Claremont. She is most drawn to topics surrounding psycholinguistics and the intersection between culture and child development. Her favorite classes at ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ so far have been Asian American Psychology and Research Methods. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a career where she can utilize data and evidence-based solutions to foster learning and connection between individuals, whether this be in a school or organizational setting. Josephine is also passionate about cross-cultural communication and international education. As a Psychological Science liaison, Josephine looks forward to connecting with psychology majors from different year levels and building community between students, faculty, and alumni.
Orezi Ogbe
Orezi is a class of 2026 Psychological Science major from Aurora, Colorado. Some of her favorite classes have been Culture and Human Development of the African Diaspora and Psych of Addictive Behaviors. She is a research assistant in the Deep Structure Culture Shop (shout out prof Hurley!), and she is continuing work with the Cooperation Lab at Boston College. She will be pursuing a Ph.D. in experimental psychology to reach her goal of being a research psychologist. Orezi hopes to foster community in the psych department and support upperclassmen in navigating concerns about career/grad school. Other than psychology, she loves doing improv with Without a Box Improv, getting boba with her friends (especially when it’s free), and exploring all of the different activities to do in L.A.
